Orchestra Moderne NYC is a new ensemble which made their Carnegie Hall debut in the fall of 2017. I designed the logo and designed and developed the website. The open arcs in the logo represent the orchestra’s mission to bring audiences and performers together through relevant and inclusive music. They are also an abstraction of the structure of a concert hall, and of the conductor’s arms in motion.

Rarefind Nursery E-commerce Website
RareFind Nursery needed to improve their e-commerce, print catalog, and inventory tracking systems, which had previously been running on separate databases. Using Magento, I redesigned and built their new website. It now functions as both a storefront for customers and an inventory tracking system for the nursery staff. Staff can also access the CMS system to make updates to the homepage themselves. Data from the website can also be exported and used to streamline production of their annual print catalog.
RareFind Nursery Catalog
I created a new print catalog template which merges data into InDesign from RareFind’s website, dramatically increasing accuracy and production efficiency.
Wagner Free Institute of Science Annual Benefit
I’ve been designing the Wagner’s annual fundraising materials for over 5 years now. This is the latest, from 2017. I collaged vintage scientific and Victorian images for the invitation and program, in a nod to the Wagner’s still extant nineteenth-century museum.
Samuel N. Rhoads History Book for Children
This is one of three books I did for the Historical Society of Haddonfield, NJ. For this book I combined archival photographs, photos of natural history specimens from The Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University, images from the Academy’s collection of bird photography, and Haddonfield Middle School student artwork.
Orchestral Revolution Website
I created the companion website for Cambridge Press’ The Orchestration Revolution: Haydn and the Technologies of Timbre, by Emily I. Dolan, then of UPenn’s music department. The main challenge here was how to bring the orchestral graphs to life while still keeping the site easy to navigate and read. (The graphs were printed in grayscale in the book.) My solution was to present thumbnail images of each graph which enlarged to full size when clicked on. For particularly lengthy graphs, the user can scroll through to read the entire graph. Preserving legibility and graphical detail were major objectives of this design project. Home page illustration by Allen Crawford.
Whitman Woods Project
I designed and built this site pro bono for a group working to preserve a tract of undeveloped land where Walt Whitman had walked during his later years. Illustration by Allen Crawford.
